There are many reasons why this Bugatti Veyron, is often referred to as the ultimate supercar.
Yes, it is one of the fastest supercars in the world with to a top speed of 253 mph; tyres that cost £20,000 a set and an engine with ten radiators.
A historic car with only 450 ever made, the Veyron is a feat of engineering grandiosity that, in automotive terms, rivals the achievements of the great 19th Century industrialists.
However, what makes this the ultimate motor vehicle is without a doubt, the unique F1 number plate.
Eye-brows were raised when Afzal Kahn purchased the number plate from Essex County Council in 2008 for £440,000. Incredibly, the value of the number plate has increased tenfold, making F1 one of the most sought after number plates in the world.
The 108-year-old registration was previously on a £30,000 Volvo S80 used by the council chairman. The council sold it to raise money for a charity which aimed to raise driving standards amongst young drivers.
Despite receiving a number of offers for his most prized possession, Kahn's refusal to sell the plate means that potential buyers will have to look towards various personalised number plates Mr. Kahn has acquired, adding to what most people would call, the most exclusive of number plate collection in the UK.
He said: “During my years in the automotive industry, I’ve seen many number plates treated as family heirlooms and passed down through the generations; I guess that gives some indication of how much some of these plates are worth over time, both financially and in terms of sentiment.”A good Investment
Personal plates can be a good investment, if you make the right choice.
