A. Kahn Design is accustomed to expanding their traditional bespoke range of vehicles. Range Rovers are a core part of the business yes, but cars like Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Bentley, Jeep and Aston Martin are also included in the portfolio.
Take for instance, The Kahn Porsche Panamera – it is about as far removed from your conventional Porsche – or is it?
Well, there was only one way to find out: time for yet another most welcome Kahn news review.
Expanding the appeal of the Porsche Panamera by combining German engineering with quintessentially British styling is not entirely new territory to the man who embodies a brand and its identity.
Afzal Kahn has ensured the Kahn Panamera is one of the new breed of luxury cars with as much of a focus on design and driving ability as on interior comfort and space. Essentially - this vehicle may have four doors, a big boot and a diesel engine, but the Kahn DNA shines throughout and proves that Panamera is more than a one trick sports pony.
Notable exterior additions include a wide track styling package consisting of wide vented front and rear wheel arches, an integrated rear air dam, lower boot wing, billet aluminum, side vents, privacy tinted glass and red brake calipers.
That said, performance is very powerful; there is 250hp and 406 1b/ft of torque, enough to spirit the big Porsche to 62mph in 6.8 seconds, with the power spread evenly throughout the rev range for added agility.
And although this isn’t the fastest Porsche which is available; absolutely amazing fuel economy and low emissions make, this is by all means a perfect compromise.
It’s also one of the best driver’s cars in this class. Better still, there isn't the usual diesel clatter; Kahn has re-engineered the exhaust system – thanks to a cross hair exhaust system in stainless steel – ensuring the engine purrs - regardless of how fast or slow you are driving.
Even the suspension is excellent – complete with lowered ride height - the Panamera a treasured long-distance runner complete with 22” RS-600 wheels - providing individual grip enhancement – ensuring this vehicle not only looks good, but is also great to drive - very much in-keeping with archetypal Porsche characteristics.
The interior is a magnificent place to spend your time, thanks to an eye-catching interior. Four sculpted quilted and perforated leather seats are seated low, ensuring more of a sportscar feel. A speedo and rev counter facia in red and cream looks the business and the boot is rather spacious. And even though the entire environment feels rather tactile and plush, Afzal Kahn provides customers with the opportunity to express one's individuality. And they can have whatever they want. The principal British designer could, for example, design for you a vehicle with an exterior matching your shoes and an interior the same shade of your living room, the choice is yours.
The entire vehicle not only sounds great but also looks amazing, handles like a dream, boasts strong performance and is relatively inexpensive to run – this is without a doubt the most sensible Porsche money can buy!
